Completely agree with your sentiments Matt. The morals of the media companies that you have mentioned is worse than that of the girl or the disgraced governor itself.

But this is not new, or is it? Sex sells and the more a news item is spiced up, the more the TRP ratings, newspaper sales, Website hits. It is the inherent curiosity of the audience that makes such stories sell. Did CNN or Fox had any choice when there is cut throat competition?

Agreed that people like you and me might detest such reportage that includes elements that might be violative of a person’s privacy (prostitutes are entitled to privacy and human rights too), but what about the market. There is a demand for it in the market and the market is readily dishing it out. The hell with ethics and ’true’ journalism.

Of course, there are news organizations like al Jazeera whose USP is hard news - presented as it is and how it is. Things are changing, times are changing. What sells today is not going to sell just as much tomorrow. We can only hope to see the CNNs and the Foxes changing then.

I don't understand why you are being so emotional about it. A public figure has the responsibility to maintain the dignity of his post. A governor's post is sacred. Don't forget, we have always believed in the philosophy that government's work is god's work. Whatever the stress or the excuses are, a public figure simply can't just do what he did.

As far as the young prostitute is concerned, I pity her for she might not have known that she was not going to get screwed for the time Eliot Spitzer paid her but for a much, much longer time. She is really shortchanged.

we need such stories occasionally that is so essential to have a break from continuously boring political scene. what are we witnessing these days? - cinton camp throwing some muck at the obama camp and the obama camp does the same and a smart arse third party politician comes out making a pedestrian remark.

such scandals and aftermaths are like the toppings over the same old vanilla ice cream. vanilla ice cream is good, but you can't have it all the time. even the missionary every time takes the fun out of the act. wouldn't you agree?
